Arithmetic Subtest
WAIS-ARMentally solve arithmetic problems presented verbally within specific time limits. Derived from WAIS-IV norms.
Test Instructions
You will be presented with arithmetic problems one at a time.
- A prompt will appear. Click 'Show Question' within 5 seconds (or it will show automatically).
- The question text will be displayed for 5 seconds. Read it carefully.
- The question will disappear. You then have 30 seconds to solve it mentally (no paper/pencil) and type your numerical answer.
- Enter your answer and press Enter or click Next.
Scoring:
- Correct answers usually score 1 point.
- For questions 20-22, faster correct answers earn bonus points (2 points if ≤ 20s, 1 point if 21-30s during answer phase).
- Incorrect answers or running out of time during the answer phase scores 0 points.
- The test stops if you score 0 on 3 questions in a row (at or after item 3).
Sample Problem: 'Lou has six grapes. He eats three. How many grapes does he have left?' (Correct Answer: 3)
Important Notes
- Focus during the brief viewing time.
- Perform calculations mentally.
- Enter only numbers (e.g., '42', not 'forty-two').
